Welcome to Our Present Journey

When we were researching gifts that we would give each other for our wedding, Jay discovered these lists of traditional and modern anniversary gifts that symbolize each year that a couple has been married. They were broad categories like Paper on the 1st Anniversary, Wood for the 5th, Aluminum for year 10, and so on. At first we thought how could you possibly give your significant other a wood present for our 5th anniversary?? Doesn’t seem very romantic or thoughtful on the surface! But as we started researching ideas, we realized that the gift doesn’t necessarily have to be exactly what the category is called… as long as it was within a few degrees of the main idea, it would fit within the list.

Some years it was incredibly hard (we’re looking at you Copper in Year 7!) and others the ideas just came to us! Either way, every year has always fun (and sometimes stressful- whoops!) trying to find the most special gift we could that generally fit within the given category. Most importantly, regardless of what the gift actually was or how much it cost, we both knew that the other person put an incredible amount of time and effort into finding that special present they thought would be perfect. And really that’s all that has ever mattered to us!

So please follow along Our Present Journey as we recount some of the amazing gifts we’ve given each other over the years. We’ll also be including some new ideas that we’ve recently come across that would’ve been perfect for previous anniversaries.
