Hi everyone!
We hope you are finding your way around our site and exploring all the anniversary gift options that we’ve posted so far. It has been an exciting couple of months for us since we decided to launch this blog. It’s been so fun to scour the internet and social media to find the best anniversary gift options for every year and category.
If you haven’t already checked out our page on anniversary gift meanings, please hop on over and read through it! It will give you a great sense of what we’re trying to do and why these gift categories are so important. As you follow along, you’ll most certainly notice that we often take some liberties and freedoms with our gift ideas. Just because the category says something like Paper or Tin doesn’t necessarily mean you should be limited to only things that are exactly like the description. Does that make sense? If not, read on and it’ll become more clear. If yes, read on and enjoy the journey!
Let’s dive right into our first anniversary, where the traditional category is Paper and modern is Clocks.
We had an upcoming vacation scheduled to Scottsdale, AZ so I bought us tickets to a Phoenix Suns game as this year’s paper gift. It was a fun and different activity after a dinner that we’d already planned in the city during our trip. Tickets are a great way to expand beyond the basic idea of paper. And even better, they provide for a fun experience together with memories that will last beyond a traditional gift. For clocks, I gave Jay a new Bulova watch that he’d often wear to work or formal events. It was a nice upgrade from the more casual watches that he’d typically wear. And since he already had a few watches at this point, I also bought a nice storage and watch display case so that he could keep all of them organized in his closet. It was a great complementary gift beyond the clock category that he still uses to this day!
They say after years of marriage that a couple often starts to think alike. Well, it didn’t take long for us – I also bought Annie tickets and a watch for this year’s gifts! I planned a day with tickets to see Mamma Mia! on Broadway followed by dinner in New York City afterwards. As we said earlier, Broadway isn’t paper and tickets typically aren’t printed anymore (15 years ago they were!), but the present was just a few degrees away from the main category, which we feel is close enough! We’ve since seen several Broadway plays together, but we’ll always remember the whole theater joining in for Dancing Queen after our first show together as a married couple. For clocks, I also bought Annie a nice watch that she still often wears to this day. (When she’s not wearing a FitBit, of course!). It was a simple yet timeless gift, just like us!
Hope you enjoyed reading as much as we enjoyed recounting these anniversary gifts! We’ll be back soon with our next anniversary gifts as we continue along on our present journey. (We may not go in sequential order- we think it would be more fun to skip around!) Make sure to follow us on Instagram for more gift recommendations and content!
