Our 12th Anniversary Gifts to Each Other

12 years… feels like only a few days ago we were celebrating our 1st anniversary! Just kidding, we are back and we are out of order!! We figured it would be fun to jump around rather than going in chronological order. So this post will be about our 12th anniversary gifts – Silk or Linen traditionally and Pearls as the modern gift. Make sure you’ve read through our page on anniversary gift meanings before we get started! As always, we like to take a lot of liberties and creative freedoms with our gift choices. So even if they’re not exactly within the stated category, we believe that close enough is enough!

Jay to Annie

I first discovered Lunya about six months prior to our anniversary and I immediately knew this was the silk gift. It couldn’t have appeared in my feed at a better time! I gave Annie the Washable Silk Pajama Set so she could keep cool on those… warm… nights. They are so soft and comfortable and she looks amazing in them. Sounds like the perfect gift! And for a linen gift to compliment those awesome PJs, I bought her a new sheet set from Boll & Branch that I knew she had her eye on recently. Needless to say, our bed is one of our favorite places to be! For modern, I bought Annie a beautiful Pearl Pendant Necklace from Pearl Lang. It’s a simple but very elegant freshwater pearl wrapped in stunning cubic zirconia and sterling silver. I think 12 was a pretty good year!

Annie to Jay

Once again, great minds think alike! I must have had a feeling that Jay would also go the sexy silk pajama route for me. So I found a pair of blue silk shorts on Etsy that I thought he would love. He looks pretty great in them and the silk feels incredible! For linen, I gave him a personalized wine bag since our kids were finally at an age that we would be able to go on more romantic date nights at our favorite restaurants. We’ve definitely gotten a lot of use out of this anniversary gift!

Then we get to the modern gift – pearls – not exactly the easiest gift to buy for a man. But I expanded my thought process and the phrase “pearls of wisdom” came to me one day. Jay doesn’t really enjoy fiction books, but he loves to read insightful and meaningful stories that he can learn from. So after some googling, I came across this book called The Daily Stoic: 366 Meditations on Wisdom, Perseverance and the Art of Living. Every day of the year has its own page with a quote from an ancient philosopher and then the author explains the metaphors and applies it to modern living. He LOVED it! It was the gift that kept on giving for the whole year! Even years later, he still picks it up once in awhile when he needs some inspiration or motivation. Jay is right, 12 really was a great year!
