Our 13th Anniversary Gifts to Each Other

Lucky number 13! Even though it was just a couple years ago, our anniversary gifts have gotten a lot of use since then. The traditional 13th anniversary gift is Lace while the modern gift category offered two options in Textiles and Furs. As you might imagine, Jay had his eyes set on lace for years at this point. But we agreed to be a bit more creative and find something beyond his usual lace gift for Annie. Now understanding the meanings of the anniversary gifts, there are far more lace options than lingerie, although it’s still always appreciated and fun!

Annie to Jay

Lace

As we wrote about in our 3rd anniversary post, we’ve been steadily expanding our Waterford collection over the years. I didn’t have a lot of great lace gift ideas at the time, but I had been casually browsing Waterford’s site for new pieces that I might want for the house. That’s when I came across these beautiful Irish lace tumblers that I thought would look great on our makeshift minibar. A few years prior Jay had started to explore his love of tequila with fancier bottles that were meant to be sipped rather than mixed in cocktails. So I figured these lace tumblers would be perfect! I added in a bottle of Teremana, one of recent favorites, to top off the gift which he absolutely loved and still uses often two years later.

Textiles & Fur

In late 2021, the pandemic was unfortunately reaching new highs with the Omicron variant spreading quickly around the globe. We were settling in for another quiet winter at home without many places to go, so comfy loungewear was our go-to clothing choice. Without any real thought about textiles or furs, I decided to go all-in on comfy clothes that Jay could enjoy. He had recently fallen in love with the Mack Weldon brand. He had recently purchased a few pairs of joggers, some underwear, and long-sleeve shirts, but mentioned he wanted more. The joggers are super comfy and casual, but also look pretty decent as daily wear even out of the house. So I bought him a few more colors plus some new underwear in holiday print to round out his collection. I’m not kidding when I say his closet is basically a Mack Weldon showroom at this point!

Jay to Annie

Lace

We agreed on no lingerie this year. And I had been looking forward to it for so long! But I have already bought Annie more than her fair share over the years, and honestly, it wouldn’t have been a very inspired or creative lace gift. So it was for the better that we agreed to skip lingerie this year, even though it makes a great anniversary gift if you’re looking! Instead, I found this pretty dressy/casual lace blouse that I thought Annie would look great in. She always says how she never has anything to wear so I figured I might as well take a shot! I peeked in her closet to see what kinds of tops she had to get an idea of what she might like and need. This black lace top seemed to do the trick! She loved it, looks amazing in it, and has worn it to several casual events!

Textiles & Fur

Building on the clothing trend and without really any idea what a “textile” was exactly, my next gift was a new pair of UGG boots. Her current pair back then had been worn for a few years and were showing signs of wear and tear. Annie had been mentioning wanting a new pair that winter but never got around to ordering them. Noticing this, I figured it couldn’t hurt to try to get ones that she would like! I found a cool black pair of boots with bow ribbons on the back for some added flair. She loved the design and has been enjoying them ever since! Only a matter of time until it comes time to upgrade again though!
