Lucky number 7! This anniversary again offered three gifting choices: Copper and Wool in the traditional category and Desk Sets for the modern option. You might be thinking to yourself “how is a desk set a romantic anniversary gift!?” And trust us, we thought the same! But it became much more apparent after researching all of the anniversary gift meanings. So please check that out if you have any doubts! And send us an email or Instagram DM if you have any questions or gift recommendations for us. We love hearing from our favorite people like you! But for now, let’s get into the gifts….
Bear with me a minute on copper and I promise I’ll bring this one home. Annie’s iPhone was due for an upgrade at the time and so without her knowing I ordered a new iPhone 6s in Rose Gold. iPhone 6s! Here we are managing this blog mostly on our iPhone 14’s and at the time we thought the 6s was AMAZING! LOL, incredible how much time has gone by. Anyway, back to copper! My creativity led me to realize that there’s tons of copper inside iPhones in the wiring and batteries. So it was close enough! And I knew she liked the Rose Gold color, but I also figured it kinda looked like copper.
Annie has extensive Irish heritage in her family and when I first saw that wool was the category this year I instantly knew what I wanted to get for her. Ireland is so well-known for their Aran wool sweaters so I thought this would be perfect. And since we have a winter anniversary, I figured an authentic sweater was the only way to go this year! I found a store based in the County that her family is from and ordered this beautiful beige cardigan with a hood and Trinity zipper pull. It’s super cozy and perfect for fall and winter outings or just to wear around the house!
Lastly on the desk set, certainly not the most romantic or meaningful gift by any stretch. But Annie is a planner. Like most of you probably, our shared iPhone calendars are filled to the brim with after school activities, appointments, birthday parties, tournaments, etc. You name it, we’re doing it. So I bought her a really nice day planner to keep on her desk at home where she can keep track of all that our family has going on. She loved having a backup to our phone calendars and something she could actually hold and see what was coming up rather than having to constantly scroll and search.
*The original gifted day planner from 2016 didn’t make it to present day, but this is a similar style!
Prior to COVID-19, Jay had been working in NYC on a daily basis for several years. Which typically meant wearing business casual every day of the week. Very much unlike his current obsession with Nike workout clothes and Mack Weldon sweatpants! So I found on Etsy these copper collar stays that I was able to engrave with “12-27-08” on one and “I Still Do” on the other. Even though he doesn’t wear dress shirts as frequently anymore, he usually puts them in for special occasions like the wedding we recently attended.
Wool was a little challenging at first, but Etsy came to the rescue again! We love filling our Christmas tree with meaningful ornaments and since our anniversary is two days after Christmas, it turns out that a wool ornament was the perfect way to go! I found a beautiful handwoven wool ornament with a romantic quote from the poet Rumi. “Let us fall in love again and scatter gold dust all over the world.” It’s an intimate quote while also having a double meaning for our love to travel the world together. And the pretty red wool looks pretty great on our tree, too!
In a similar fashion to the collar stays, Jay worked in an office that would have downtime once in awhile. And he’s a big golfer, so I found this cool desktop golf game with a mini putter that he could play when he had free time. I think at first he was a little nervous that his boss would be annoyed. But after awhile his whole office was joining in for tournaments against each other! And on the plus side, it also somewhat satiated his need for golf, which allowed him to spend more time at home with me and our two young kids at the time on the weekends!
And that’s year 7. If you’re new here, please check out our blogs on our 1st, 12th and 9th anniversary gifts to each other! (Yes, we are going way out of order!) And as always, follow us on Instagram for more anniversary gift options and daily updates from us.
